A must-read for Southern fiction lovers. From the details of plantation life all the way to the major plotline of human trafficking, this story was riveting. I so enjoyed getting to know the characters and watching them fall in love as they faced the challenges of survival, keeping their siblings out of trouble, and searching for a place to truly belong. I have also added this book to a Goodreads List of Christian Novels Containing Sigh-worthy Kisses ! Such a sweet romance. I love how protective the hero is of his lady, even when he denies his attraction for her and knows their goals in life are far different. The game-changer characters blew me away, and I loved how volatile things became when these characters were on the page. Seeing Connor and Julia again brought back sweet reader-memories of their love story, while following their current relationships as they navigate the demands of plantation life. Pam Hillman has produced another Southern classic! Can't wait until the third book in the series!
